- Acquire a Stratocaster of some sort (either Fender or Squier)Not neccesarily play reverse like Hendrix.
- Use the neck pickup (switch the pickup control so that it is closest to you).
- Grab a vintage Marshall amp, preferably a JTM45 or non-master volume Plexi. The amp must be a tube amp (solid-state is not usable in this situation.)
- Get some effects that he used. Some would include a wah-wah pedal, a fuzz or distortion box or for some really weird sounds, try a Uni-vibe or Octavia pedal.
- Learn some blues standards. Some more commercial stuff like Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and Muddy Waters is good, but try digging even deeper like Howlin' Wolf, T-Bone Walker, and John Lee Hooker.
- Incorporate different styles into your playing. Try listening to jazz, blues, and folk.
- Don't be disappointed if you don't get it at first, it takes a bit of practice.
